Martin Creed is an artist who uses different aspects of language to Banner and Shrigley. The work, ‘Everything is Going to Be Alright’ was installed on the façade of The Scottish Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh. Art promoter Richard Demarco said, “[o]n the evidence of what’s happened in the last year, you have to admire his [Creed’s] optimism. Edinburgh needs that attitude at the moment, what with the trams and the collapse of the banking system” (Marshall, 2009). The artist’s use of reassuring language uplifts the viewer, providing a different experience to the work of Shrigley or Banner who use humorous or negative language. Even the scale of the work expresses willingness and an openness to embrace the viewer and attempt to make them feel better.
